Co-founded by siblings Jash Shah and Pashmi Shah, this brand is redefining the concept of ice cream, focusing on protein-rich treats. Both Jash and Pashmi Shah hold MBA degrees. Jash’s affinity for proteins led him to collect various protein variants during his travels. This predilection set the stage for a revolutionary idea. When the siblings yearned for a healthy yet delightful treat, their mother, Jimmy Shah, ingeniously blended whey protein into ice cream. This household experiment morphed into the foundation of Get A Whey’s protein-enriched ice creams. A family recipe evolved into a business opportunity, leading to the brand’s launch in Mumbai in 2018!
Overcoming Hurdles and Forging Ahead
The early stages of Get A Whey’s journey were peppered with challenges. Coming from a family engaged in traditional diamond trading, Jash and Pashmi faced the monumental task of convincing their parents of their viable business model.
However, their mother’s entrepreneurial acumen and culinary skills offered solace. Additionally, instead of establishing their manufacturing unit, they opted to outsource production. The intricacies of cold chain logistics added further complexity. Despite these hurdles, their dedication persevered.

All ingredients are locally sourced, from organic dairy farms in Maharashtra. Exclusively natural ingredients are used, with raw whey protein being a vital component. Organic sweetener Erythritol replaces sugar, underscoring their commitment to health-conscious offerings.
Get A Whey’s ice creams are created through a meticulous process. The mixture is blended, pasteurized, and homogenized to ensure a consistent blend. Overnight ageing allows the protein to hydrate fully. Continuous freezing with controlled air infusion ensures a velvety texture. The brand offers a variety of flavours, including Keto options for diet-conscious consumers.
Strategic Moves at the Right Times

Jash Shah along with his mother Jimmy Shah, took centre stage in season 1 of Shark Tank India. They sought an investment of Rs. 1 crore for an 8% equity in their company. Their protein-infused ice cream and business model captured the imaginations of the Sharks, leading to a strategic investment by Vineeta Singh, Aman Gupta and Ashneer Grover. Get A Whey managed to crack a deal of Rs. 1 crore each from all 3 of them for a 15% equity. This partnership not only injected financial support but also propelled the brand’s popularity to new heights.
After achieving success in Shark Tank India, Get A Whey rebranded itself into Get-A-Way to cater to a more diverse range of desserts.
In December 2022, Get A Whey got funding of $2 Million from Biryani By Kilo. In January this year, it also managed to rope in Malaika Arora as an investor in the company. Apart from investing in the premium ice cream brand, she also is the brand ambassador of the company.
Growth and Future Plans
Get A Whey presently operates in 45 cities in India through its chain of 150 cloud kitchens. By the end of 2024, it plans to create 350 cloud kitchens to expand its presence in more cities of the country.
